A Parent’s Guide to Matchington Mansions (App/Game)

Matchington Mansions by Runaway

Type: Home Designer, Puzzle

Basic Plot: The player has inherited a mansion that they must decorate.

Game Play and Plot: 3½/5 Above Average: The game is played by the player playing three match games with ever growing features on par with Candy Crush Playing levels unlock parts of their mansion and allow one to meet new neighbors and get furniture. The other half of the game is used to decorate the mansion, with the player visiting other mansion and choosing furniture to use in their house.

Like many three match games, there is a small story filled with characters, many of them cliche, but still able to put a smile on a person’s face. There is also enthusiastic voice acting during game play.

Graphics: 4/5 Well Done: I love how the graphics in this game are so cheerful and bouncy. There expressive, fluid, and have a bit of a Nintendo’s Harvest Moon design. It’s friendly, fun, and welcoming, with a handful of cheesy cartoon elements.

Music: 3½/5 Average: Flutes and pianos are used to make calm music, with the occasional feature of nature affects, overall making a soothing game play.

Overall: 3½/5 Above Average: This game has two things going for it: good graphics and a good game play. The story is typical, but the actual game play is fun and it’s pleasant to look at. Looking for a new puzzle game? Try Matchington Mansions.
